Spencer Smith Park,  January 31, 2016

A solitary male Ruddy Duck was resting less than six feet from the promenade.

Occasionally he would swim around for a bit.

This view clearly shows the Ruddy opens his wings in order to tuck his bill into the soft, downy inner feathers.

Saturday, of course, was far too cold to put my nose out at the lake or elsewhere.  We therefore headed to the Royal Ontario Museum.

Of course we viewed the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibit.  The collection is marvelous. Unfortunately, patrons are not allowed to photograph any portion of the exhibit.

Canadian, Don Gutoski, an emergency room physician, was the grand title winner! Here is his winning photograph.

The exhibit runs until March 20, 2016. If you cannot visit the ROM, the entire collection is viewable online.
